Who is DeWayne L. Wright?
The Man
Author, educational revivalist, motivational speaker, seminarian and doctoral student, Middle School ELA & High School English teacher, and pastor DeWayne L. Wright has been in ministry for over 25 years. Since 2009, he has served as Lead Pastor of Kingdom Living Ministries in New Jersey while traveling domestically and internationally to teach the Word of God and help others pursue Christ.
Born and initially raised in Jonesboro, AR, DeWayne experienced the childhood joys of southern living: playing in the fields, shooting BB guns, and catching snakes. However, at 12, DeWayne moved to Trenton, NJ, after becoming the oldest child in a blended family of seven. He was determined to find a way to thrive despite the massive shift, and by the time the family settled in Willingboro, NJ, three years later, DeWayne had found his niche: helping people know God. As a teen, DeWayne became known for hosting youth bible studies, passing out personally curated mixtapes of urban gospel/holy hip-hop music, and reaching out to the homeless on the streets of Camden.
DeWayne holds a diploma in youth ministry from Rhema Bible Training College, a B.S. in Church Leadership from Southeastern University, a B.A. in Labor Studies and Employment Relations from Rutgers, the State of New Jersey University, and an M.A. in Theological Studies from Nelson University.
Since answering the call to ministry at an early age, DeWayne has sometimes worked as a full-time paid clergyman. But his bivocational experiences as an educator, sales professional, and even as a beer brewing apprentice (yes, He-brews), along with his Rutgers degree, inspired his first book, When Work Is Worship, which will be released on September 1, 2025.
In the meantime, DeWayne and his wife Courtney are having the time of their lives raising sons Destin (pictured above, after crashing dad’s photo shoot) and Declan. DeWayne considers his marriage and those little boys his most significant accomplishments.
